The Thing About Mythology

Okay, the thing about Mythology is it'd really get you hooked on the gods and goddesses -- Like it did to me. Here are some pictures of our English Parade. (Miz_M is an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G teacher! By far, the best English teacher in High School, or probably, ever. Next to her is Ms. Abarquez...Ü) don't mind the date of the pictures, by the way, i wasn't able to fix the date and time on the camera...

It's such a coincidence, that Karen chose Iris (who's known as the Messenger Goddess) to be her character and I chose Hermes (the Messenger God) as mine! And we didn't know that Iris and Hermes were messenger folk so it's so surprising that we chose them! A lot of these situations happen to me and Karen! Sometimes we have the same food for breakfast, dinner, and we blurt out the same things, and choose the same items... It's insane! HahaÜ
So, anyway. All of us had fun. I hopeI don't get disappointed by my grade in OE... Physics is killing me softly...

First week of school

Haay. My first week of school felt like an entire month already. We all felt pressured by the first day, and it became worse on the days that followed. Not to mention, the UP Application Forms! But anyway, I still had fun!Ü Being back in Assumption Antipolo after a long summer can be truly rewarding. (The campus, the teachers, friends...) I think we'll all have a wonderful school year. (Even if everything's the Last First General Assembly, the Last First Club Selling, etc.) Here's why:
1. We have GREAT teachers
*Ms. Manahan (our t.i.c. - teacher in charge AND english teacher)
*Ms. Olalde (our CA - class adviser AND c.l.e. teacher)
*Ms. Lacsamana (our Filipino teacher -- and for some of us, has been our Filipino teacher ever since second year!ü)
*Sir Beni (our Philosophy teacher)
*Ms. Jona (College Algebra)
*Ms. Gaye Anne (AP/Comp. teacher) [lucky for us section 3 and 4 students that we get her for computer instead of....]
*Sir Mitra (woohoo!Ü our Physics/Trigo. teacher)
*Sir Lorenzo(!) (our Physics lab teacher)
*Ms. Ajero (our P.E. teacher since forever!!!Ü)
*Ms. Beth (our THE/Accounting teacher)
*Ms. Etty (our Music teacher since forever too...ü)
*Ms. Sol (I'm so glad to finally get to experience her as one of our teachers in AK-Alay Kapwa)
*Ms. Carganillo (our Health teacher)
2. BLOCKED SECTION!!!
Which means I still have the same classmates as I've had last year!! I can't wait to go to Baguio with my friends!!!Ü
3. We're the eldest in the student body... Yeah! Seniors!!!
4. We're on the first floor! We don't have to climb up 6 staircases to get to our classes!
That's only a few... Hehe. Can't think of any others. But I'm sure there's a lot hiding in the back of my head. We had this prayer in English that I found really inspiring. (I like the way Ms. Manahan started her first official English period. First we had this multiple intelligence test, then she explained her 10 commandments to success --which pretty much explained everything she expected from us, and she ended it with a prayer) Here it goes:
HONOR THE BEGINNING:
Beginnings can be delicate or explosive. They can start almost invisibly or arrive with a big bang. Beginnings hold the promise of new lessons to be learned, new territory to be explored, and old lessons to be recalled, practiced, and appreciated. Beginnings hold ambiguity, promise, fear and hope.
I will not let the lessons, the experiences of the past, dampen my enthusiasm for beginnings. Just because it's been hard doesn't mean it'll always be difficult for me. I will not let the heartbreaks of the past cause myself to become cynical, close me off to life's magic and promise. I will open myself wide to all that the universe has to say.
I will not let myself begin anew. I will pack my bags wisely. I will choose carefully what to bring with me, because packing is an important ritual. I will take along some humility and lessons of the past. I will toss in some curiosity and excitement about what I haven't learned. I will say my good-byes to those I am leaving behind. I will not worry about who I will meet or where I will go. The way has been prepared for me. The people I am to meet will be expecting me. A new journey has begun. I will let it be magical. I will let it unfold.
Amen.
Nice noh?! Anyway. Have to go and take a shower!Ü Friends later and replay of the OC!!!ü

Spectacular Movies and Fantastic food

Finally, Karen and I were able to go out today! I had such a great time!!!Ü I was really looking forward to it. First, I stayed at my dad's office in Meralco. I surfed the net until Karen texted me that she was already in Galleria (***Meralco isn't that far from Galleria, it only takes about 3 minutes to get there).
After going to Photoline for our 2x2 picture (for college application forms) we went to KFC to eat our early lunch. (We were craving for KFC ever since last week!!!) The chicken was sooo delicious and crispy that I think KFC is the best place for super sarap chicken! I love KFC, and the gravy! And the rice! Perfect! By 11:00 we were already rushing to buy our movie tickets.
We bought sour and cream popcorn (the best popcorn in the whole world of popcorns!) and water. The sour and cream popcorn was just right in every munch you take!

And can I just say that I loved Mr.&Mrs. Smith?! Brad Pitt was soooo h-o-t! As in every girl would drool over him! Really! And Angelina Jolie was soooo sexy! I was one of the people who really felt bad when Brad and Jeniffer Anniston broke up... But seeing Brad and Angelina together makes me want to take it back. They look so good as a couple! Like Gods and Goddesses! They're just so, so perfect for each other. Anyway... You'd also learn a valuable lesson after watching the movie. It has an amazing plot (or at least in my opinion.) and great casting! Adam Brody was also there! He was sort of the target. Whoops. I'll stop there, I might disappoint those who haven't seen it yet! And the humor is there... It's really funny! Oh, and watch out for the irony! HahaÜ there were a couple of scenes that was just SO ironic! And after watching it, it makes you feel as if you're an agent. HahaÜ I'm usually like that after watching something, I get so influenced. Karen and I went to Dreamscape to go to the loo and after we found ourselves playing that "shoot the target" thing - where you get stuffed toys if you shoot one. Unfortunately, we're not agent-y enough to even get one target right! So much for
feeling-like-an-agent! Besides, you have to shoot the target with an infrared gun! I mean, how sure are you that the glass isn't deflecting it or something, right? So it isn't really that reliable. I knew it! We still have a chance! There wasn't anything wrong with our aiming and shooting! It was those infrared guns!!! Wooohooo! HahaÜ yeah, right.

So then we realized it was already 3:15 -- and Madagascar was due to show at 3:20... So basically, we ran from dreamscape to the movie place! Which, we, upon arriving realized that the distance between those places weren't that far and even if we didn't run we'd still get there on time. HahaÜ Agents?! We were practicing our shooting for crying out loud! HahaÜ so, we got inside the movie house where instead of playing trailers from movies, they played corny, cheesy songs. Then at last, the lights dimmed and the movie was starting.
Madagascar was so hilarious! I just kept on laughing the whole time. I couldn't even believe how shallow I was getting. The penguins were sooo adorable! And Alex (The Lion), Marty (The Zebra), Gloria (The Hippopotamus) and Melman (The Giraffe) were all so funny and cute and charming...! And the animal (which Karen and I are assuming to be a guinea pig) that had big round eyes? He's so cute! Makes me want to squeeze him tight! I'd love to have a stuffed toy of that one! And the movie had a valuable lesson too! That is, to be loyal to your friends and not to give up on them. Aww... I was offering Karen a piece of my shirt for her to cry on. HahaÜ Too bad Micaela wasn't there! We always tease each other when watching a movie. Like, we often give Mica a tissue to "cry" on if ever she did. And she'd often say: "Ano ba kayo! Hindi nga ako naiiyak!" HahaÜ I got that idea from my dad. HahahahaÜ Anyway, back to the movie. I told Karen I would never want a lion for a friend. But then again, why would I have a lion for a friend? HahaÜ And the animals kind of resembled the actors speaking their part! Like, Chris Rock being the zebra, Ben Stiller being the lion and David Schwimmer being the giraffe. But Jada Pinkett Smith didn't look like the hippo. Aww. David Schwimmer's voice was sooo cute, it matched the giraffe 110%!

---------------------------------------------------
So after the movie we went to get our 2x2 pictures. And I didn't like it! Ngh! Anyway, it's the picture that counts! HahaÜ so we went to Nike, Addidas, Olympic Gold and Toby's to look for a nice school bag for Karen. While we were there, we also looked at the jackets! One of which looked like the one Henin-Hardenne wore! HahaÜ and also some tennis shoes!!! Then, by 4:30 we found the perfect school bag for Karen! Problem solved! We headed off to Ice Monster to eat their new specialty: Banana Split and Mango Split.
The Mango Split was fantastic! It had strawberry and vanilla ice cream with mangoes on the side, and whip cream, and candy sprinkles and evaporated milk! It was soooo mouth watering! Karen ordered Banana Split and it was the same -- except of course, instead of mangoes, it had bananas on it! You all should try it! Super duper worth it! For only P99 you get the ice cream satisfaction you've wanted all your life. (Okay, maybe I'm exxagerating a bit. But that's how I felt!)
After that, my dad texted that he was leaving the office already, so we went down to Gloria Jeans. Karen was also being picked up by her dad there. When my dad arrived, Karen and I said our good byes to each other saying "See you on Monday--ay, Tuesday pala!" HahaÜ I am so happy that there will be no classes on Monday! And I was so fulfilled with our day's agenda! I had an über great time! Today's the last Friday before we start fourth year and I can say that it was totally self-satisfying, cherish-the-summer-like, and fun to the 1000th power.

Guess what?!

Guess what?! :( Rafael Nadal lost in the Halle tournament... :( I am so sad. But it's okay, I bet he's not going to waste his time! He'd be practicing every single day -- in GRASS. (I hope.) Here's the article:

French Open champion Nadal stunned at Halle
By ROY KAMMERER
HALLE, Germany (AP) -- French Open champion Rafael Nadal's 24-match winning streak was snapped Wednesday when he lost in three sets to Alexander Waske on grass at the Gerry Weber Open.
In his first match since winning the French title on clay Sunday, the third-seeded Spaniard was beaten 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 by the 147th-ranked German wild card.
Nadal's streak came entirely on clay, and his serve wasn't as powerful on the faster surface of grass.
``I'm tired,''
said Nadal, who played through a strained thigh and a blistered finger. ``I need two or three days off. My fitness is not the best. When I go to the net, I am too slow. My fitness is a big part of my game.''
Waske received a standing ovation after his volley to close out the match in this key tuneup for Wimbledon, which starts June 20.
The match turned in Waske's favor late in the second set when Nadal netted two drop shots and lost his serve.
``I played a horrible game -- I played very bad all the time,'' Nadal said. ``I started well, but it is hard to concentrate after so many matches at the French.''
That's okay, Rafa. Just do better next time. :( I got this picture from rickey.org! It's Rafael Nadal topless!!! The muscles, mahn! HahaÜ

Anyway, last night I made my itenerary for today. I wasn't able to follow it as much as yesterday. I only studied for a few hours coz I got tired. The English review was waaay more interesting than the one for Science. I can't believe I'm saying this, since I looove science. The book's review is a glossary of "Selected Biology Concepts". Whoa. There were about a thousand words in that glossary! And I'm not in the mood to study today. Perhaps I gave my all already yesterday. I didn't even use the internet! I only turned the computer on to type a couple pages of the English reviewer I was making. But today, I'm such a bum. 4 days to go til Monday! I cannot believe it!
I have a tag-board already! HahahahahaÜ I'm so slow... Haha. But I had a LOT of help from Micaela. As in A LOT. She was even kind enough to tell me her username and password in her blog to look at how she made things in her template.Ü I didn't succeed, though. Haha, so, yeah, I did get a lot of information how to do this and that, but I didn't know how to put it in my template. So I told Mica that I'm happy with just a simple tag-board. That was a huge step for me! HahahahahahhaÜ I listened to magic 89.9 the WHOLE DAY! I heard Hale/Hail's song about 5 times already. ("The day you said good night") or is it good bye? And Jojo's "secret love". According to Kelly (89.9) tomorrow is BIG HUG DAY! Aww... I wish I could hug my friends (esp. Karen, Mica, Ginny, Wissa, Grantoto, Denise and Hiyas! -- I love hugging them! They're so huggable! HahahahaÜ) And Kelly said to hug as many people as you can. So far, my mom, my dad, and my little brother are the only ones I've hugged... :( Haha. Oh well. Now, I'm tired, my eyes are getting strained from staring at the computer screen.
Karen and I are going to go out tomorrow! I know I've said this for about three times already. This time, it's final. We are really going out.
I watched Veronica Mars last night. That was the best episode I've seen so far. And as always, Veronica saves the day! There was this on-line quiz that became very popular in Neptune High. And somebody hacked Veronica's and Meg's (who was a perfect, good girl) email! Anyway, I'll keep it there. You ought to watch it yourself. It's really really interesting.Ü
I better go and rest. I've got a loooooooooooonnnnnng day tomorrow! Bye!Ü

Book Review (of the ones I read this summer)

I read a few books this summer... I'll give my review of each book I read... Ü
HIGHEST RATING: 4 STARS.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every boy's got one is a wonderful book!!! Super duper! This book is extraordinary. So, if I were you, I'd read this book! [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]

Okay, my advice, read this first before you read Every boy's got one. I found it a little amateurish compared to Meg Cabot's writing. The ending was nice, though. [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]

You'll learn quite a few things about mythology in this book. If you're looking for romance that'd make your heart beat fast, this isn't the book for it. I enjoyed reading it because I definitely had a good laugh at how the author portrayed the Gods and Goddesses! HahaÜ [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]
-------------------------------
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
(thanks to Mica for lending me this book!) Wow. This book is full of depth. (and anagrams, which I was totally amused by.) and it has this "book power" (i'd like to call it) that keeps you from putting the book down. Basically because you'd be thinking "What would Langdon do next?" , "What'll happen to the next victim?" and stuff like that. [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]
-----------------------------------
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
You have to read Can You Keep A Secret! You have to! I found it hard to put down this book! Really, Sophie Kinsella is such a GREAT author! She'd keep you laughing and crying while reading her books. It's about this girl, Emma, who accidentally spills ALL her secrets to a handsome stranger on a plane -- then when Monday comes, she finds out that that stranger was the top CEO of the company she's working for!
[RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]
----------------------------------------------------
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
(thanks to Mica for lending me this book!)Shopaholic and Sister is another one by Sophie Kinsella. This book comes after Confessions of A Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. It was fun, especially to those who dream about their wedding day. [RATING:Image hosted by Photobucket.com]
----------------------------------------------------
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
(thanks to Mica for lending me this book!) In my opinion, Shopaholic and Sister was better than Shopaholic Ties the Knot. Mainly because Jesse (Becky's sister) teaches her a very valuable lesson. [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]

This book made me cry. :( It's nice for light reading.Ü [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]

(Thanks to Karen for lending me this book!) The A-List is fantastic! It gives you a peek at how rich people live. Anna's the main character in this one, she's rich but down-to-earth. It has depth too! [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]
---------------------------------------------------------
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
(thanks to Ginny for lending me this book!) Hitchhiker's is totally funny!!! And weird in a good way. [RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]

I didn't enjoy this book. I thought it was amateurish (again) but all the same, it was worth reading. [RATING:Image hosted by Photobucket.com]
---------------------------------------------------
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
(thanks to Mica for lending me this one!) Light reading again. But it's totally worth it!
[RATING: Image hosted by Photobucket.com]

AND THAT'S IT! Next on my list... The Devil Wears Prada, PS I love you, A Little Help from Above, and the next 3 books of the A-List, and Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince!
The O.C. last night was fun to watch. I'm sad that Summer turned down Seth, but I think they'll end up together again later on this season. The Philippines is so behind, in the States, I think they're already in season 4 or something. OTH later!!! 18 minutes more!!! I'm so excited!!! Anyway, I'd better check on Simple Life 3. I forgot all about it! I just remembered it now! We're going out tomorrow! Yippee!!! Can't wait!Ü
